Why Every Business Should be on Pinterest

The Benefits of Your Business on Pinterest

With the obvious popularity of Facebook, and the huge impact Twitter has had in the last couple of years, it’s hard to believe there’s another site that’s growing just as fast. Pinterest.com has managed to bring something unique to the table that has it becoming one of the most popular and growing social networks on the web.

According to Pinterest.com, “Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.” It’s true that Pinterest allows a user to do all those fun, personal things- but pinboards can also be used to promote your business. Lauren Drell shares some of those unique ways to promote your brand and business in her article, “Pinterest for Brands: 5 Hot Tips.” The Social Media Examiner published an awesome article sharing 26 tips on how businesses can use Pinterest.  Some of the tips included adding a “Pin It” button to your Bookmark bar, Pinterest etiquette, and 24 other informative ways on how your business can truly benefit from Pinterest.  If you’re still needing to justify to yourself, or others, on why Pinterest is important for business, check out the facts according to the Shareaholic Referral Traffic Report: “As of January 2012, Pinterest drove more referral traffic than Google+, LinkedIn and YouTube combined.”

The infographic below, from Adam Hirsh on Pinterest, shows some very interesting marketing tips about Pinterest, including the fact that 87% of Pininterest’s users are currently Female!  The infographic also shows ways that businesses are using Pinterest to connect with potential clients and network with other businesses.  Large companies like Whole Foods and Etsy.com have already started promoting Pinterest and embedding “Pin It” buttons onto their websites. Whether a large or small business, it is clear that Pinterest can be used as a unique and fun way to grow and market your business. If you haven’t already done so, you can sign up for Pinterest HERE and start pinning today!

  1. I love these ideas! I remember a sneior leader saying once how an online profile serves as your virtual office today. You used to be able to get a sense of who someone is by stopping by their office, or cubicle even if just in a visual glance around, you know someone better. Now, we all work so virtually, we often don’t have this luxury.Pinterest is a visual peek into someone’s world, and that’s humanizing. And we all need humanizing in the workplace it’s what creates community.I saw a quote at the Cindy Sherman exhibit I was lucky to see at the MoMA here in NYC, and they noted how Cindy’s photographic art explores one simple truth: all cultures take in their world through images so true, when you think of it. Pinterest connects us to this innate tendency we all have to process our world through imagery.Oh Thanks for this graphic too!
